Mission & Vision
The mission of Ice Theatre of New York is to develop ice skating as a performing art--to create a dance company on ice. Ice Theatre is a medium in which professional skaters from varied backgrounds collaborate with choreographers, muscians, writers and visual artists to create and perform innovative new works. It is also an environment that nurtures young performers and choreorgaphers.
The vision of Ice Theatre of New York is to bridge the worlds between the dance world and the skating world by the commissioning of pieces by noted choreographers for the ice, and by the creation of pieces where the work itself, through movements, articulation and event location are seen as dance. While the focus is on creating new work, curating the existing repertory is also of prime importance.
