Welcome to the exciting world of Ice Theatre of New York! ITNY was established in 1984 as the nation's first not-for-profit ice dancing ensemble with the purpose of developing ice skating as a performing art. Ice Theatre has performed in venues from arenas to practice rinks and in weather conditions ranging from the heat of summer to 20 degrees below zero near the arctic circle. However, one of Ice Theatre's most exciting formats is in a theater on the proscenium stage. It combines the intimacy of a theater performance with athletic artistry and the drama of stage lighting. The ice surface for this type of show is set on the stage, giving the audience the experience of skaters gliding, jumping and spinning close to their seats; veiwers even feel an occasional spray of snow from under the skaters' dancing blades. Translating the vision of ice and dance choreographers onto a rink, ITNY merges innovative dance with the grace of figure skating to expand both art forms. Experience Ice Theatre at your venue today! What better way for your employees to celebrate the holiday season (or any season, for that matter) than with a skating party? The fun of skating parties should not be limited to children! Ice Theatre has a vast repertory of pieces to draw from by renowned dance choreographers such as Alberto Del Saz, Laura Dean, Lar Lubovitch, Elisa Monte, and JoAnna Mendl Shaw. We can combine the solos, duets, and ensemble pieces to work in conjunction with and perfectly complement the mood of your party, and provide instructors to accompany your party guests.
Theme-Setting on Artificial Ice
Do you have the location for your event, and there's no ice? That's not a problem for Ice Theatre. Using our sheets of Plastic Ice, we can skate anywhere. Skaters can be your guests' welcoming sight or can be the highlight of your event.
In 2005 Ice Theatre signed on with Concept Artists (previously Industrial Artists Management) who have since represented us for non-ticketed events.
