2002 Residency

August 12 - 30, 2002
Jamestown, New York

Ice Theatre of New York recently completed its 2002 Residency in Jamestown, New York. Principal collaborators for this project were the Skating Academy and the Jamestown Ice Arena, and the Residency was made possible by partial fund from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). In this three-week period, Ice Theatre brought together its ensemble members and apprentices to participate in creative processes, rehearsals of repertory works and workshops for the surrounding communities. The Company developed a contemporary work based on the Laban Scale, a result of the collaboration between JoAnna Mendl Shaw and David Liu; the ice ballet Through a Glass, Darkly, a tribute to Olympic Champion John Curry by Katherine Healy; and On the Town by Associate Artistic Director Doug Webster. These works will be shown at Ice Theatre's Home Season performances in November.

The Company presented two phenomenal performances on August 16th and 17th as part of Skate Chautauqua. The performances were attended by approximately 1,800 people.

We look forward to returning to Jamestown!
