Shall We Dance? MetroArts/ Thirteen's 1st Annual Dance Festival
May 5 - June 1, 2003NYC Channel MetroArts/ Thirteen featured works by Ice Theatre of New York and by other outstanding area choreographers, filmmakers and dance companies during its first Annual Dance Festival. The segment on Ice Theatre featured two works. The Dreame, a duet choreographed by Jacqulyn Buglisi and performed by Kim Navarro and Tyrrell Gene, used movements that incorporated the Graham technique and Buglisi's own inventive style. This romantic piece used the energetic, rhyhmic and momentous qualities of the music of Franz Liszt to create continuous lines of dramatic tension and suspended breaths. Departures, a 6-skater work by Douglas Webster to Mahler's Symphony #5, was dedicated to Clarin Schwartz, a friend of the Company who was lost during the September 11th tragedy. The Ice Theatre segment was shown along with Streb: Pop Action and Martha @ The Pillow.
