Ice Theatre of New York honored the prominent wedding and eveningwear designer Vera Wang during its 2003 Annual Gala on November 5, 2003. Ms. Wang pursued academic excellence at Chapin, Sarah Lawrence and the Sorbonne and competed in international skating competitions in her early years. Years later, her intimate knowledge of the sport, coupled with her taste and design ability, would capture the world's attention when silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan wore Vera's unique design for the 1994 Olympics. Ms. Wang remains active in designing for skating at the Olympic level with athletes such as Michelle Kwan. She also has been a long-time supporter of Ice Theatre of New York. The 2003 Annual Gala began with the opening performance of the Company's 2003 Home Season performance series; the attendees of the Benefit were then invited to cocktails, dinner and festivities at The Lighthouse Event Center at Pier 61, Chelsea Piers. Ice Theatre also presented a video tribute to Ms. Wang during this special occasion. Among the attendees of the Gala were Dick Button, Dorothy Hamill, Silvia Fontana, Oksana Baiul, Lu Chen and Denis Petrov. It was a fabulous party! Please join us for our 20th anniversary Gala in 2004.
