2003 Home Season/Autumn Gala Performance in Honor of Vera Wang

Ice Theatre of New York's 2003 Home Season/Autumn Gala performance in honor of VERA WANG in November was broadcasted in New York City TV's Cultural Corners, Channel 74. Ms. Wang, prominent wedding and eveningwear designer, was a competitive figure skater. Years later, her intimate knowledge of the sport, coupled with her taste and design ability, would capture the world's attention when silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan wore Ms. Wang's unique design for the 1994 Olympics. She remains active in designing for skating at the Olympic level with athletes such as Michelle Kwan, and has been a long-time supporter of Ice Theatre of New York.

Featured in this special Gala performance in honor of Ms. Wang were works by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, David Liu and Douglas Webster, performed by the Ice Theatre Ensemble. Performing with the Ensemble were Olympic Champion Oksana Baiul; two-time Olympic Bronze Medalist Lu Chen; World Professional Champions Elena Leonova & Andrei Khvalko; Italian Champion Silvia Fontana; Georgian Champion Vakhtang Murvanidze; Olympian David Liu, performing a piece choreographed by Carlos Orta; and skater/prima ballerina Katherine Healy.

Broadcast times were: Tuesday, January 27 at 11 PM; Thursday, January 29 at 10 AM; Friday, January 30 at 7 PM; and Saturday, January 31 at 9 PM.
