2005 NEW WORKS AND YOUNG ARTISTS SERIES AT RIVERBANK STATE PARK

For the 11th year in a row, Ice Theatre of New York conducted/presented this most successful educational program at the Skating Complex at Riverbank State Park. This Series is geared primarily towards public school students in Harlem and Washington Heights and continues to develop young potential performers and a youthful audience.

This Series is a great showcase for our young skaters/performers to practice their performance skills as well as provide emerging choreographers the opportunity to display their works. Following the performance, the children are invited to attend a free skating clinic taught by the performers. The 2005 Series included (among others): a solo by young Felicia Zhang - a member of the Ice Theatre/Chelsea Piers Performance Club; “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”, choreographed by Adam Lieb and Stephanie Hawkins, performed by student Lloyd Ting; “Putting on the Ritz”, choreographed by Nina Petrenko and performed by student Kenny Nagazawa; “Twist”, created by David parsons and performed by Company skaters Line Haddad and David Tankersley, Carlos Orta’s “El Duende” performed by principal skater David Liu, and the ensemble piece for the movie Polar Express, “Hot Chocolate”.

In 2005, Seniors from Harlem and Washington Heights were also invited to attend this three concert series.
