Residences
The Ice Theatre Ensemble conducts Residencies in different communities in New York State. Generally, Residencies are conducted for three weeks. During this time, we create new works, perform and teach workshops for the skaters in the area. Acclaimed choreographers join the ensemble to create the works. Rehearsals are open to the public, so the community can watch our creative process first-hand.The 2006-2007 Residency took place in Saugerties, NY from April 2-22, 2007. The Company skated at the Kiwanis Skating Arena in collaboration with The Boundless Edge Skating School. Resident former company member and director of this local skating school, Beth Woronoff, was our host. Several apprentices were welcomed, particularly during Easter break when special programs were conducted. The Residency was made possible by a grant from New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).
Ice Theatre held the 2002/2003-2004/2005 Residencies in Jamestown New York, with major collaboration from the Jamestown Skating Academy (under the guidance of Kirk Wyse and Lenel van den Berg) and the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena. The Residency was made possible by grants from New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), the Ralph C. Sheldon Foundation, the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, the Gebbie Foundation, and the Johnston Foundation.
