ICE THEATRE OF NEW YORK

Ice Theatre of New York (ITNY) recently finished a three-week choreographic residency in Saugerties, NY, as the New York City-based company continues to develop new works that will be seen at ITNY’s home seasons at Chelsea Piers, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and Riverbank State Park this fall.
For three weeks, the Kiwanis Ice Arena and Saugerties Ballet Center served as a creative home for ITNY’s choreographers and skaters, resulting in several new repertory pieces.

While in Saugerties, former Olympian David Liu choreographed a new piece, “Pull,” set to a Thomas Newman score. Peter diFalco created “Mi Andalucia,” a three-section work that joins elements of Andalusian dance, flamenco and bull fighting. Associate artistic director Douglas Webster began creating a quartet “Opening” set to the music of Glassworks by Philip Glass. The skaters also conducted daily classes for the local community, both on and off the ice. The skaters also conducted daily classes for the local community, both on and off the ice.

Ice Theatre of New York’s upcoming performances include shows at Long Beach Arena on Long Island, NY on Oct. 20, the annual Fall Benefit Gala at Chelsea Piers.
