Reflections on Performing with Ice Theatre of New York
“I joined Ice Theatre of New York five years ago when I began my undergraduate education at Barnard College, and the company consistently provided me with a bridge between my studies and my passion for the art of figure skating. As a dance minor, I considered ITNY’s diverse and rich repertory created by renowned choreographers an asset and essential supplement to my classes. As a pre-medical biochemistry major, the study of movement on ice fostered my understanding of the biomechanics of the body. Beyond this, ITNY has instilled in me the necessity of teaching through its outreach and educational programs. As I move into the next chapter of my life as a medical student, I will hold on to my experiences with Ice Theatre. The lessons and memories will stay with me forever as part of my identity as an artist and physician.”
